More than a thousand members of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oluyole local government area of Oyo state, on Friday, switched their political alliance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and thus ended their several years of loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde who they described as “selfish and clueless”.
The former APM members were led into the APC by Honorable Mustapha Kazeem popular known as “Oba Oluyole” in an event which took place at the APC Secretariat located in Oke-Ado, Ibadan. The defectors were formally received by the Party’s State Chairman, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo and other members of the State Executive Committee.

The leader of the defectors, Mr. Mustapha-Oba, said in his speech that Gov. Makinde was not the best person to work with in any political struggle as “he does not appreciate loyalty, good human relations and sacrifice despite being a beneficiary of a collective struggle. The few people who get empowered by the governor are even worse as the one in Oluyole local government area victimized most of us for more than seven years.
“It came to a point that we could not pretend again and this made us to see the light in the progressive fold. It is an established fact that the APC is the only political party that is worth its name. APM is a Gov. Makinde’s private estate and we cannot be part of it again. To this end, we are no longer interested in deceit and propaganda which gave Gov. Makinde an unmerited mandate to rule us as we say ‘enough is enough’. He stated.
The Chairman of the APC in Oluyole local government area, Prince Dotun Oladipupo, later presented the defectors to the APC Chairman and Former Deputy Governor in the State, Otunba Moses Adeyemo, who handed them brooms as an indication that they had been fully admitted into the party. Adeyemo then charged them forget the past and be committed to the APC Project which, according to him, offered them Renewed Hope.

On hand to receive the defectors were; Hon. Fatai Adesina (APC’s State Secretary), Hon. Tunde Elegbede (APC’s State Financial Secretary), Dr. Felicia Opatunde, Olawale Sadare, Comrade Olalekan Oladejo, Alh. Lateef Akinsanya as well as the APC’s candidate for Oluyole Federal Constituency in 2027, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe and the party’s Candidate for the Oluyole State Constituency, Hon. Hakeem Lawal among others.
