1 Die, 10 Injured In Lone Accident On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A lone accident on the Saapade bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway has claimed one life, while ten others havesustained serious injuries.
The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun State Sector Command, Mrs Florence Okpe confirmed this in a statement in Abeokuta.
According to the statement, the accident which involved a white-coloured Mazda Bus with registration number GGE 858 XY, was caused by excessive speed, tyre burst and loss of control.
” A total of 17 people are involved which comprises eight men, seven women and two children. Unfortunately, one woman died while 10 people including two men, six women and two children, sustained injuries.
The statement adds that the injured victims were taken to a private Hospital in Ogere for medical attention while the deceased was deposited at a private Morgue in Ipara.
In a reaction, the Ogun Sector Commander, Mr Akinwumi Fasakin advised motorists to always pay more attention to tyres by checking the expiry date and avoiding substandard tyres, stating that tyre burst on a controlled speed would have been handled better.
