Popular Islamic Scholar, Prof. Olagoke Calls For More Grassroot Football Development

Proprietor of Shafaudeen Patriots Football Club, Ibadan, Oyo State, Professor Sabit Olagoke has called for more grassroots football development with adequate competitions to produce more talents for the Country.

Professor Olagoke made the call while performing a symbolic kick-off at the opening ceremony of the 20th Edition of Rasool Cup Under 18 Tournament, 2024/2025 Season held at the Wesley College Football Pitch, Elekuro, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Founder of Shafaudeen in Islam Worldwide, maintained that, apart from discovering talents, grassroots competitions would promote unity, love, peace and progress among the Youths in the society.

He added that, with proper grooming, the talents discovered in the competition could be Stars that would rub off on their families and communities.

Professor Olagoke pointed out that youths see sports as a major tool of keeping them away from criminality and other social vices, stressing that the successes recorded in the past editions were testaments to the importance of engaging the Youths meaningfully.

He charged all the participating teams to abide by the rules of the game, urging them to shun violence on and off the event.

At the opening game, Eleven Teargas Football Club of Lagelu/Egbeda defeated David Joel Football Club also of Lagelu/Egbeda in Ibadan, Oyo State by 3 goals to Two.

In attendance were Grand Amirah of Shafaudeen in Islam, Alhaja Simiat Olagoke, Alhaji Olayiwola Yusuf, Area Commander, Man O’ War, Ibadan South East among others.
