Family Officially Informs Gov Makinde Of Olubadan Passage…. Okere, Alaafin React

The family of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin has officially informed the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde of the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Olakulehin .
A delegation from the family, including the former President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) and Aare Mayegun of Ibadanland, Chief Bayo Oyero,younger brother of the deceased Olubadan, Mr Osuolale Owolabi Olakulehin and son of the deceased, Aremo Olasumbo Owolabi, was received by the Governor on Monday.
Governor Makinde, while addressing the delegation in his office, said the state would stand by the family at this period and also give the late Olubadan a befitting burial.
He said: “We don’t always want them to go; we want them to stay with us. But God has designed our bodies for a certain period of time.
“I commiserate with the family and all of us. The government will definitely stay with the family and play whatever roles we are supposed to play, including giving Kabiyesi a befitting burial.
“I will ask all the members of the family to take heart. Coincidentally, today marks the 13th year since my father passed on. So, for the immediate family, I pray for strength.”
Earlier, former President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) Chief Bayo Oyero had informed the governor of the team’s visit to intimate him of the passing away of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Frederick Owolabi Olakulehin, Olakulehin
“We thank you very sincerely. In spite of the controversial situation we had before he ascended the throne, you still approved his ascension to the imperial throne of Ibadanland.
“We want to thank your government for all you have done, including a remarkable, historic coronation ceremony, which the government did for him.”
Oba Olakulehin celebrated his 90th birthday on July 5 and ascended the throne as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland a year ago.
In the meantime, the Okere of Sakiland, Oba Oyeniyi Olabisi has extended Condolences to Ibadanland Over Passing of the Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
In a message he personally signed, Oba Olabisi described the transition of Oba Olakunlehin as a significant loss to the traditional institution.
The Okere of Saki said the Late Olubadan would forever be remembered for his contributions towards the progress and development of traditional institution and Oyo State.
Similarly, The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has sympathised with the family of the Olubadam of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who joined his ancestors in the early hours of Monday.
Alaafin, in a condolence statement released by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, lamented that his death came barely 12 months after he ascended the revered throne of Ibadanland.
He described the late Olubadan as “a visionary monarch whose contributions to the development of both Ibadanland and the people within his shortest reign would remain indelible.”
