Motorists and Commuters on the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode Expressway are about to heave a sigh of relief as the Federal Government is expected to begin palliative works on the failed sections of the road on Monday.
Minister of works, Dave Umahi revealed this during an inspection of the road in Sagamu alongside the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The Minister acknowledged the severe hardship the damaged road had caused to motorists, giving an assurance that the federal government, under the president’s directive, would ensure the road is fixed by the end of the year.
In his remarks, Governor Abiodun, who expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his prompt action in addressing the issue, highlighted the numerous complaints his administration has received from road users and the state’s prior efforts to carry out temporary repairs.
The Governor expressed optimism that once the palliative work begins, motorists across the seventeen southern states, as well as, the rest of Nigeria, can expect significant improvements on the route in a short period.
