Labour Declares Strike In Ogun Over Pension Scheme

Labour Unions in Ogun State have declared indefinite industrial action for employees of the state government.
The unions demand total abolition of the contributory pension scheme among other bids.
Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Hameed Benco-Ademola and his counterparts from Trade Union Congress and Joint Negotiating Council, made this known at a press conference in Abeokuta.
Describing the scheme as condemnable, the union submitted that it would not give adequate workers’ welfare.
The union noted that several efforts made to the government to address the matter had been futile as the government had not shown interest in their demand, hence the need for the strike action.
The union leaders added that they were open to dialogue with the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for a way forward.
