Written by on July 20, 2025

It was a joyous moment to forever cherish for constituents of Ibarapa North and Central State constituency in Oyo State as their representative at the House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Gbadegesin Ojedokun empowered over 1,000 constituents with more than ₦20 million during a twin ceremony held in Igboora and Igangan last Thursday.

It was indeed a major show of grassroots commitment by the member representing Ibarapa North and Central State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Beneficiaries were drawn from all 10 wards in the two local governments, with 100 people per ward selected, comprising small business owners, farmers, and political stakeholders.

They each received cash grants of ₦50,000, ₦40,000, ₦30,000, or ₦20,000, aimed at strengthening micro-enterprises and supporting families economically.

The empowerment events, held at Igboora and the Igangan Town Hall, attracted key political figures and community leaders.

Dignitaries in attendance included Hon. Lateef Lawal Adebare, Chairman of Ibarapa North LG, and Hon. Adeleke Olusola Ayoade, Chairman of Ibarapa Central LG.

They both praised Hon. Ojedokun’s dedication to uplifting his constituents, and described him as a grassroot politician.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Ojedokun noted that the empowerment initiative aligns with his broader developmental agenda.

“This empowerment is not just about financial support, it’s about reaffirming my commitment to bringing governance closer to the people. Every initiative from boreholes to classroom projects is a step toward a more prosperous Ibarapa North and Central,” he said.

He also listed key ongoing and completed projects within the constituency, including a modern science laboratory complex at Igangan High School (near completion), rehabilitation of 21 boreholes to improve access to clean water across the Constituency, repair of the maternity centre in Igboora, fixing of critical culverts for improved rural road access, and facilitation of job placements for constituents across sectors.

The well-attended events were met with enthusiastic support from beneficiaries, who described the initiative as timely and impactful.

Many lauded Hon. Ojedokun for staying connected to the grassroots and responding to the real needs of his people.
