The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has said there was no primary election by the All Progressives Congress, APC for the vacant Ibadan North Federal constituency seat at the House of Representatives.
This is contained in a leaked document signed by INEC in Oyo state and addressed to the Secretary, INEC office at Plot 436, Zambezi Crescent, Maitama District in Abuja dated 21st July, 2025.
According to the document, “the primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ibadan North Federal Constituency of Oyo State scheduled for 19th July, 2025 did not hold in Oyo State”.
The document adds that all efforts to monitor the primary election as specified in another letter signed by the State secretary which was submitted on Sunday, 20th July, 2025 proved abortive.
Recall that one of the Aspirants, Adewale Haastrup Olatunji, popularly known as Murphy had claimed he had emerged as the candidate of the party, a development that has sparked outrage among eight other Aspirants, who claimed that the primary election did not hold due to the manipulation of the delegates list by a gubernatorial aspirant in the state.
This development, as observed by A4O Radio, has led to uncertainty among the party fold as to who the candidate for the vacant Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat at the House of Representatives is.
The bye election is expected to hold on the 16th of August, 2025.
