Olawepo-Hashim Expresses Confidence In PDP’s Resuscitation, Warns Against Ethnic Politics

Former Presidential Candidate, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has declared that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, is poised for a national comeback, asserting confidently that the opposition party will rise again.

Speaking during a high level engagement with the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s Wadata Plaza headquarters in Abuja, Dr. Hashim said that despite past challenges, internal divisions, and defections, the PDP remains the only truly national party with the capacity to rescue Nigeria in 2027.

The former Presidential Candidate and PDP’s first elected Deputy National Publicity Secretary, dismissed fears about the party’s dwindling influence, stressing that the PDP’s grassroots base remains intact, even as some elected officials defected under pressure or political blackmail.

Olawepo-Hashim, who joined other founding fathers at a meeting of the founders of the party in Abuja, argued that Nigeria’s future lies not in zoning arrangements or ethnic alliances, but in the emergence of a competent, patriotic, and visionary leader, one capable of tackling insecurity, reviving the economy, and improving the living conditions of all citizens.

While faulting what he called a growing campaign by some sectional political actors pushing for a President of regional and religious interest, Hashim stressed that such tactics have failed to bring meaningful development to Nigeria.

Dr. Hashim reaffirmed his commitment to building a united, secure, and prosperous Nigeria, calling on citizens across all regions and religions to reject divisive politics and embrace a future built on merit, not identity.
