Oyo Govt Places Ban On Sunday Trading At Bola Ige Int’l Market

The Oyo State Government is to ban Sunday Trading at the Bola Ige International Business Complex, known as Gbagi Market, Ibadan.
The ban is expected to take effect from the 27th,July,2025.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry, Adeniyi Adebisi the decision is to address problems of insecurity and restore order at the market.
The commissioner in the statement said having consulted the traders over the spate of criminality being perpetrated on Sundays,the government decided to act promptly to restore normalcy.
While stating that the idea to ban Sunday trading was originally conceived by market leader, the statement regrets that some traders have continued to flout the directive, leading to a significant level of insecurity .
The statement maintains that dedicated task force will be deployed to the market on Sundays to uphold the ban.
