Osun Stakeholders Advocate Unity Ahead Of 2026, 2027 Polls

Written by on July 26, 2025

Political Leaders in Osun State have been told to look beyond partisanship and embrace a united course for the collective good of the State and Nigerian at large.

The Osun Stakeholders Forum, OSF, made the call in a statement jointly signed by its Director-General, Alhaji Yinka Idris and Secretary, Ibrahim Akinokun, on Friday in Ibadan.

The forum lamented the political unrest in the state following recent realignments, calling it an opportunity for strategic recalibration and consensus-building across party lines for future stability.

It stressed their commitment to Osun’s prosperity, while calling on all parties, particularly APC, PDP, SDP, ADC to prioritise unity over political competition and discord.

The forum warned that division would jeopardise Osun’s developmental goals and electoral stability, urging stakeholders to align ahead of the 2026 governorship and 2027 presidential elections for collective benefit.

OSF described President Bola Tinubu as a historic opportunity for national transformation and called on Osun politicians to support his 2027 re-election for enhanced federal presence and economic development.

They urged Gov. Ademola Adeleke to consider aligning with the APC, noting his alignment would greatly boost Osun’s influence and strengthen South West regional cohesion.

“Gov. Adeleke’s leadership has delivered remarkable electoral results. His defection to APC would realign Osun with federal priorities and strengthen Tinubu’s 2027 reelection strategy,” it said.

Speaking on similar moves by governors of Delta and Akwa-Ibom, the forum insisted Osun must not remain isolated in the wave of national political realignments reshaping the Nigerian power structure.

It described South West governors’ bipartisan collaboration as a model of mature leadership, adding that Osun must strengthen regional solidarity and lead boldly in national political developments.

The forum further said that Gov. Adeleke’s possible switch to APC would symbolise Osun’s strategic leadership, signaling commitment to national unity, federal influence and the advancement of South Western interests.

The OSF urged political stakeholders to choose statesmanship over rivalry and unity over disunity, pledging to guide a peaceful convergence that ensures Osun’s relevance in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape
