The team’s impressive haul included gold and silver medals in the individual female category, a gold medal in the mixed team event, another gold in the female team category, and a silver medal in the male team competition.

The remarkable achievements underscored not only the depth of talent within the Kingsmen squad but also the effectiveness of the structures being put in place to grow the sport in Oyo State.

At the centre of the team’s success was the outstanding performance of Saka Habibat Abiola, who emerged as the gold medalist in the 30-meter Barebow Individual Female category. Demonstrating remarkable consistency and focus throughout the tournament, Habibat outperformed a highly competitive field to claim the top prize and further establish herself as one of the country’s most promising archers.

Adding to the team’s success in the same category was Habeebat, who secured the silver medal, giving Kingsmen a memorable one-two finish in the women’s individual event. The result highlighted the strength of the club’s female contingent and its growing dominance in national competitions.

Habibat’s impressive outing did not end there. She teamed up with Ismail Kabiru in the Mixed Team event, where the duo combined precision, teamwork, and tactical excellence to clinch the gold medal. Their performance was one of the highlights of the tournament, with both archers demonstrating exceptional coordination under pressure.

Ismail’s contribution proved crucial throughout the event, as his consistency and calm execution complemented Habibat’s accuracy, enabling the pair to overcome strong opposition and secure the championship title.

The success story continued in the Female Team category, with Habibat and Habeebat teaming up once again climbed to the top of the podium, winning another gold medal and reinforcing their status as one of the most formidable teams in Nigerian archery.

The Male Team category also produced a podium finish, with Kingsmen securing the silver medal after a spirited performance against strong competitors. While narrowly missing out on gold, the result further demonstrated the club’s depth across both male and female divisions.

The Zen Archery Lagos International Open Tournament 3.0 has rapidly established itself as one of the most important competitions on Africa archery calendar.

Bringing together elite athletes, emerging talents, coaches, and stakeholders from different parts of the Africa, the tournament serves as a critical platform for measuring progress, discovering new talent, and promoting international-standard competition.

For Kingsmen Archery Team, the results reflected months of disciplined preparation, structured coaching, and a commitment to excellence.

The club’s consistent investment in athlete development continues to produce results, while also contributing significantly to the broader growth of archery within Oyo State.

Speaking after the competition, the team’s co-founder, Seun Ogunlana, who also represented the Arch Archery club Abuja, praised the athletes for their dedication and commitment.

“These results are a reflection of the hard work, sacrifice, and discipline displayed by our athletes over several months. We are extremely proud of what they have achieved at this tournament. They competed with courage, focus, and professionalism, and their success is well deserved,” Seun Ogunlana said.

In a telephone conversation with Mr Seyi Alaba, the chairman of Oyo State Archery Association, he said

“Every medal won here represents countless hours of training, teamwork, and support from coaches, administrators, and fellow athletes. We are building a culture of excellence, and these achievements show that we are moving in the right direction.”

The performances recorded in Lagos also serve as further evidence of the remarkable growth of archery in Oyo State.

In recent years, the state has witnessed increasing participation in the sport through the efforts of clubs, schools, coaches, and sports administrators who have worked tirelessly to create opportunities for young athletes.

This growing ecosystem is beginning to yield tangible results, with Oyo-based archers increasingly making their presence felt at regional and national competitions.

The emergence of athletes such as Saka Habibat and other members of the Kingsmen Archery Team demonstrates the vast potential that exists within the state’s archery community.

Looking ahead, the team is expected to build on this momentum as preparations begin for future national and international competitions.

Coaches and officials remain optimistic that with continued support, exposure, and training opportunities, the athletes can achieve even greater success on bigger stages.

For now, however, the spotlight firmly belongs to the Kingsmen Archery Team and their outstanding ambassadors who turned the Zen Archery Lagos International Open Tournament 3.0 into a memorable showcase of excellence.

Their medal-winning exploits not only brought pride to their club but also signalled the continued emergence of Oyo State as a major force in Nigerian archery.

If the performances witnessed in Lagos are any indication, Kingsmen Archery Team and the Oyo State contingent are poised to become dominant figures in the sport’s future, inspiring a new generation of archers and setting new standards of excellence across the country.
