Ib North Bye-Election: Candidates Sign Peace Pact

As part of preparations for this Saturday’s By-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Candidates of different Political Parties have signed peace accord with a view to ensuring peaceful conduct before, during and after the poll.
The candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, All Progressives Congress, APC, Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, and Africa Democratic Congress, ADC signed the accord at the INEC office, Agodi Ibadan.
Speaking shortly before the signing, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr Adeniran Tella said the gathering demonstrated commitment to promoting peace, stability and credibility in the electoral process.

Dr. Tella urged all stakeholders to adhere to the principles outlined in the Peace Accord and work together to create an environment that allows voters to exercise their rights without fear or intimidation.
“INEC is committed to conducting a credible election and we appreciate your cooperation in this regard, Oyo REC said.
“I encourage all flag-bearers and their supporters to maintain a high level of decorum and sportsmanship throughout the campaign period which incidentally comes to an end tomorrow, the 14th August 2025 accordingly, Dr Tella added.
In their separate remarks, Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Folajimi Oyekunle and flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Adewale Olatunji expressed optimism that the election would be peaceful.
The signing was witnessed by security agencies in the state.
