Oyo NUJ Demands Thorough Investigation Into Member’s Death

Following the recent killing of a Journalist, Ojo Peter, by suspected armed robbers in Ibadan, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council, has called for a thorough investigations into the killing.
The sad event which reportedly occurred on August 18, 2025 has thrown the entire Media Community in the State into mourning.
Ojo Peter, a former reporter with Parrot Extra and Daily Monitor, was said to have been shot in the back during a daylight robbery along the Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan on the said date.
Details of the unfortunate incident was communicated to the Union and his colleagues on Monday, September 8, 2025.
Reacting on behalf of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council, Acting Chairman, Comrade Sola Oladapo made the demand for a thorough investigation in a statement issued on Tuesday, describing the death as untimely and saddened.

“The Union is saddened by the news of Ojo Peter’s recent killing in Ibadan by suspected armed robbers. The attack occurred along Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan, Oyo State on August 18, 2025, around 2 p.m.
“Sources said Ojo Peter was robbed of his cross bag; despite pleading to the robbers that the bag contained no money, he was still shot in the back,” the Statement added.
While describing the incident as unfortunate, Comrade Oladapo urged the Nigeria Police, Oyo State Command to fish out the killers.
The Union condoled the family of the deceased and urged them to take solace in the fact that the deceased left indelible marks in the sand of time.
It would be recalled that Ojo Peter’s brother, Peter Enahoro, on Monday expressed grief over the killing, saying his brother left home healthy but was gunned down while trying to make ends meet.
