Lagos 2027: President Tinubu Endorses Obafemi Hamzat As APC Consensus Candidate

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday formally endorsed Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat as the All Progressives Congress, APC, consensus governorship candidate in the state.

The President’s endorsement was at a meeting with members of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council, GAC, led by the Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Recall that there has been speculation going round that President Tinubu preferred Former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as the APC flagbearer in the state, whereas the GAC had already given their nod to Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus candidate.

This has suggested perceived unrest with the APC caucus in Lagos State, but with the President’s endorsement, Hamzat is all but certain to contest the Lagos governorship seat under the platform of the APC.
