Over 700 Youths Benefit From FG Empowerment Programme In Oyo State

No fewer than 700 youths have been empowered by the federal government on technical and vocational skills in Ibadan, Oyo state.
The programme, which was held at the KAAF auditorium, department of human nutrition and dietetics, University of Ibadan, was organised through the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy, NPRGS, in collaboration with the federal ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Abuja.

The beneficiaries were trained on graphics design, fashion design, make up artistry and Artificial intelligence, AI.
In an address of welcome, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy, NPRGS, Dr Abiola Arogundade said the programme was an initiative of the President to lift five million Nigerians out of poverty.

Dr Arogundade said the programme which began in Abuja would be replicated in all states of the Federation.
She maintained that the effectiveness of the project would be monitored through the monitoring and evaluation unit of the federal ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, adding that the baseline, midline and end line of each participant would be assessed in their various locations within the first six months a year later.
“On the 28th of October, we moving to Enugu, after Enugu, we are going to Kebbi. The president intends to remove 5million people out of poverty and bring them to prosperity and how we are doing this is through vocational training and empowerment”.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the senator representing oyo central senatorial district, Senator Yunus Akintunde advised the beneficiaries not to be tempted with the idea of selling the kits given to them.
Speaking in the same vein, the All Progressive Congress, APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli said President Bola Tinubu meant well for Nigerian youths through the provision of the vocational and entrepreneurship skill adding that the kit when used adequately would elevate their economic level from dependant to self reliance.

Senator Alli, who said the gesture would be replicated in Oyo state when he becomes the governor, commended President Bola Tinubu for the initiative.

The beneficiaries described the gesture as timely pledging to make good use of the skills and kit for their socio economic upliftment.
