“Disrupt Farming Activities And Face The Full Wrath Of Law” – Ogun Govt Warns Residents

Written by on September 19, 2025

The Government of Ogun State has vowed to go tough on anyone found to be disrupting the activities of farmers in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the government in an interview with newsmen in Abeokuta, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Bolu Owootomo said the government had invested heavily in agricultural projects and infrastructure designed to boost food security, create jobs, and enhance the livelihoods of farmers.

Mr Owootomo reaffirmed government’s commitment to protecting the interests of farmers and promoting agricultural development expected to boost food productivity and contribute to the state’s economic growth.

He noted that the ministry had the backing of the legislative arm of government to deal ruthlessly with individual or group of people encroaching on government-owned agricultural land.

The Agriculture commissioner urged farmers to report any cases of land grabbing or other elements, hindering their activities, and promised to take swift action.

Two farmers, Mr Joseph Adenekan and Mrs Ademolu Adedayo who narrated their experiences in the hands of the land grabbers thanked the state government for the bold step, adding the decision would go a long way to complement government’s efforts to boost food production in the State.

They stressed the need for government to set a monitoring team that would ensure speedy implementation of the decision.
