OAU Condemns Violent Robbery Attack On Student Hostel

Management of Obafemi Awolowo University has described armed robbery attacks on students living in Oreoluwa Hostel in Moremi Estate ,an off- campus student accommodation in Ile-Ife as unfortunate and unacceptable.

This is contained in a statement by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju.

On Monday night,the students were dispossessed of their valuables and also sustained physical injuries during the violent attack.

The School Authority in the statement lauded the quick intervention of Students’ Union officials for promptly evacuating the victims to the University Health and Medical Centre for medical attention.

According to the statement,the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Adebayo Bamire implored security agencies to always carry out routine surveillance around student-populated areas.

The victims included ;Oluwafemi Ogedengbe,Emmanuel Akinribiye and Olalekan Okemiga.
