Oyo Set To Host Falconets’ Clash With Senegal

Oyo State government says it is ready to host Nigeria’s Falconets’ crucial 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying clash against Senegal’s Lioness of Teranga.
In a statement made available to the media on Monday in Ibadan, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, said the encounter will be played on Saturday, 7th February 2026.
She stated that the choice of Oyo State as host follows the successful hosting of Nigeria’s Falconets against Rwanda at the same venue last year, noting that the match further reinforces the state’s growing reputation as a hub for international sporting events in Nigeria
Recall that the emphatic victory over Rwanda, which showcased Oyo State as world-class sporting facilities and organisational capacity,
The Commissioner expressed optimism that the Falconets would once again rise to the occasion and come out in flying colours
Hon. Adegoke while assuring football fans, stakeholders, and the international football community of adequate security, effective logistics, and a memorable matchday said the match will take place at Lekan Salami stadium adding that the Falconets are expected to arrive in Ibadan on Tuesday, 27th January 2026, ahead of the fixture.
