Oyo Police Begins Investigation Into Mysterious Death At University Of Ibadan

Following the mysterious circumstances that surrounded the death of a teenager in a swimming pool at the University of Ibadan, the Oyo State Police Command has said it has begun investigation to unravel the cause.

The State Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, who disclosed this in a statement, said the institution’s Chief Security Officer reported that a body was sighted in the pool.

Ayanlade noted that detectives who visited the scene detected blood oozing from the victim’s mouth and nose, with bruises around the nose and blood stains within the pavilion area of the swimming pool

He said some Items suspected to have belonged to the deceased, including shoes and a shirt, were also recovered

The Command’s PPRO explained that preliminary findings have shown that the victim, believed to be between 14 and 15 years old and not a student of the university, may have gained access to the facility by climbing over the fence after closing hours.

He said the remains of the deceased was later taken to Adeoyo General Hospital where he was confirmed dead by doctors.
