APC Condemns Attacks On Oyo Schools, Urges Makinde To Prioritize Security

The All Progressives Congress APC in Oyo state has condemned, in a strong term, the Friday lethal attacks by suspected bandits on residents of some communities in Oriire local government area of the state urging Governor Seyi Makinde to be more alive to urgent actions towards ensuring safety of lives and property of the citizens under him.
Confirmed reports had it that some gun-wielding attackers, who operated on motorcycles, unleashed terror simultaneously on Yawota and Ahoro Esinele communities at about 9am on Friday. Two people were killed by the attackers who also abducted unspecified numbers of school children and a headteacher identified as Mrs. Folawe Alamu.
In a statement issued at the weekend and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC sympathized with the family of the two slain citizens while calling on the governments and security agents to set all machineries in motion with a view to freeing the abducted pupils and Mrs. Alamu from the criminal elements immediately.
“The Friday lethal attacks on the people of Oriire local government area of Oyo state have further exposed the ineptitude of the concerned authorities especially the administration of Gov. Makinde. For quite some time, some local government areas in the state have witnessed violent attacks in the hands of gunmen and bandits who always killed, maimed and abducted hapless citizens particularly in Oriire, Ibarapa North, Oluyole, Itesiwaju, Ido and some other local government areas whenever they struck.
“The saddening part of the whole thing is that Gov. Makinde, who is the Chief Security Officer of the state, was busy gallivanting on the streets of Ibadan – the state capital at the time of the Friday attacks in the name of Street Credibility for the purpose of selfish politicking. On the entourage of Gov. Makinde were security agents and Amotekun Corps who were supposed to have been deployed to the nooks and crannies of the state to do their normal work.
“At this juncture, the good people of the state must rise up to ask questions; where are the security surveillance aircrafts for which Gov. Makinde removed billions of naira from the state Treasury to purchase last year? Where are the impacts of the security votes which the governor receives every month from the federal government? Why does Makinde find it extremely difficult to work with relevant stakeholders to address insecurity in the state?
“It is time Gov. Makinde was told that he should get serious with the business of governing the state as he has to disembark from the high horse of deceit as his luck in the field of politics terminates on May 29, 2027. Oyo state cannot be grounded just like they did to the PDP even if he continues to waste the entire resources of the Pacesetters State on propaganda, mobilization of lackeys among other things at the expense of the masses in the state.” APC said.
