APATA Movement Dismisses Fictitious Results, Reaffirms Dr. Peter Ogundeji Apata’s Overwhelming Grassroots Acceptability
Written by News Desk on May 19, 2026
The attention of the Media and Communications Office of Chief Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, APATA, has been drawn to a video currently circulating across social media platforms in which fictitious and highly misleading vote figures were attributed to Chief Peter Taiwo Ogundeji Apata, a frontline political figure and one of the most formidable aspirants in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial primary process for Osun West Senatorial District.
Ordinarily, we would have ignored such a poorly contrived narrative in the interest of party unity, internal harmony, and our collective commitment to the success of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for 15th August, 2026, as well as subsequent electoral engagements leading into 2027.
However, in order to preserve the integrity, reputation, and enduring political credibility of our principal, it has become necessary to set the record straight and prevent falsehood from gaining undeserved legitimacy.
For the avoidance of doubt, Dr. Peter Taiwo Ogundeji Apata did not participate in the said primary election as he had earlier announced his decision to step aside from the race on Sunday the 17th of May 2026, a day before the Primary. In deference to the leadership, intervention, and wise counsel of the apex leader of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, former Governor of Osun State, and Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency, Chief Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, whom Dr. Apata holds in profound respect and high esteem, he voluntarily stepped aside from the contest in the overriding interest of party unity, stability, and cohesion.
It is therefore both laughable and unfortunate that any vote figure, whether small or large, could be allocated to an aspirant who had publicly withdrawn from the race prior to the exercise.
Such an action is not only misleading and politically immature, but also exposes the desperation behind attempts to distort the true political standing and grassroots strength of Dr. Peter Taiwo Ogundeji Apata across Osun West Senatorial District.
Before his principled decision to step aside, APATA was widely acknowledged across political circles as one of the strongest contenders in the race and was strategically positioned for victory.
His withdrawal was therefore not borne out of weakness, uncertainty, or lack of political capacity, but was a deliberate sacrifice made in the larger interest of preserving peace within the progressive family.
As rightly said, “True leadership is measured not only by the ability to fight, but also by the wisdom to sacrifice personal ambition for collective stability.”
It is equally important to emphasise that Chief Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, APATA, remains the only aspirant who extensively toured all ten local government areas within Osun West Senatorial District, namely Ayedaade, Iwo, Ejigbo, Ayedire, Olaoluwa, Isokan, Irewole, Egbedore, Ede North, and Ede South, during the consultation period.
Throughout these engagements, he traversed the length and breadth of the district, meeting party leaders, delegates, stakeholders, youths, women groups, and grassroots supporters, not only to solicit support for his senatorial aspiration, but also to mobilise massive support for the governorship candidacy of the APC flag bearer, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
His commitment to strengthening the party structure and deepening grassroots mobilisation across Osun West remains unmatched and widely acknowledged.
Dr. Peter Taiwo Ogundeji Apata remains a formidable political force whose influence, grassroots appeal, philanthropic engagements, disciplined approach to politics, and unwavering connection with ordinary people continue to distinguish him as a leader of uncommon capacity, humility, and political relevance.
No amount of propaganda, manufactured figures, or orchestrated misinformation can diminish the goodwill, respect, and overwhelming support he commands across the ten local government areas of Osun West Senatorial District.
As loyal and committed progressives, we consciously chose the path of peace over provocation, maturity over bitterness, and party cohesion over personal ambition.
Our decision to align with the position of party leadership underscores our unwavering commitment to the continued growth, electoral success, and stability of the APC in Osun State.
We therefore urge all supporters, political associates, stakeholders, and members of the public to remain calm, focused, and resolute in our collective determination to secure victory for the APC in the forthcoming governorship election and beyond.
The APATA Movement remains united, steadfast, and fully committed to the progress of our great party and the development of Osun State.
