No Guber Aspirant Was Disqualified – Oyo APC Primary Election Committee

All aspirants who were screened for the Governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, are cleared to participate in Thursday’s primary election.

The Chairman, APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primary Election Committee in the state, Mr Taofeek Olawale Abdulsalam disclosed this at a press conference held at the party’s secretariat, Oke Ado, Ibadan.

Mr Abdulsalam, a Former Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, maintained that no governorship aspirant was disqualified, quelling rumours making the round that some of the aspirants had been disqualified.

He said the committee is determined to conduct a ‘near perfect’ exercise, that would produce candidates who can win the elections for APC in 2027.

He gave an assurance that all necessary logistics have been put in place to ensure a hitch free exercise.

According to Mr Abdulsalam, the Committee is satisfied with the conduct of the House of Assembly Primaries.

Mr Abdulsalam stressed that what is paramount to the party is to reclaim the governorship seat in Oyo State.

He enjoined all members of the Party and all the Aspirants to play the game according to the rules, in the best interest of the Party and benefit of all.

Speaking on the House of Assembly Primary election held across the State on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Committee said, the exercise went smoothly as ninety Aspirants were cleared to jostle for tickets to the 32 Assembly seats.

The primary Committee Chairman, stressed that, only the National leadership of the Party in Abuja has the authority to announce the results after collations, urging members to remain calm and await the official announcement from the Party leadership.

Also at the news conference, Chairman of the APC primary election monitoring team in Oyo State, Chief Ayo Afolabi said his team was closely observing the exercise in the State and their observations would be sent to the National Headquarters of the Party.

A4ORadio also gathered that Hon Remi Oseni has emerged as the APC candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, while incumbent Senator of Oyo Central, Yunus Akintunde retained the Party ticket for the Senatorial District.

Meanwhile, no official result has been announced for the Oyo North Senatorial District primary election, according to the party.
