NSCDC Deploys 10,000 Officers To Osun Ahead Of Guber Election

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has deployed personnel to fortify security ahead of Saturday’s Governorship Election in Osun State .
The Commandant of Corps ,NSCDC State Command, Mr. Igbalawole Sotiyo in a statement said Ten Thousand officers have been deployed across the state.
Mr. Sotiyo noted that the team would be led by the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Audi.
He charged personnel of the Command to remain apolitical, maintain strict neutrality and discharge their duties with the highest level of professionalism before, during and after the election.
The State NSCDC Boss emphasised that the credibility of the Corps and public confidence in its personnel would depend largely on their conduct throughout the electoral process.
Mr Sotiyo charges “I urge you not to put the name of the Corps into disrepute. Be apolitical, maintain neutrality and respect fundamental human rights. Discharge your duties strictly in line with the Corps’ Standard Operating Procedures and other extant laws guiding election security operations,”
According to Mr. Sotiyo, NSCDC is a professional and non-partisan security agency saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and property, critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as supporting the maintenance of peace and public order.
He noted that the election is a constitutional exercise and that the role of security personnel is to provide a safe and enabling environment for citizens to exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation.
Mr Sotiyo assured the residents of the State that NSCDC would work in synergy with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure a peaceful, secure and credible electoral process.
