Oyo State Government has decried the exclusion of Governor Seyi Makinde from the flag-off ceremony of the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road, held at Idi Ayunre in Oluyole Local Government Area of the state .
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade says the state government described the alleged exclusion of Governor Makinde from the ceremony as “taking politics too far.” as the event was attended by the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi; the APC gubernatorial candidate in oyo state, Senator Sarafadeen Alli, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
Prince Oyelade explains further that the ceremony fell short of its expected significance as it is politically planned
He faulted the explanation that Governor Makinde was not invited because he was on leave, noting that an Acting Governor was available to represent the state.
Meanwhile, clarifying Governor Makinde’s absence at the event, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, apolosised over the development
Senator,Umahi said a letter notifying the governor of the event had been sent through the Director-General of the Ministry of Works in Oyo State, but he was informed that Governor Makinde had travelled out of the state.
The Minister of Works said the ministry of works in Oyo state ought to have even extended the letter to the deputy governor,Chief Bayo Lawal when the governor was not around.
