The match decided at Goodwill Akpabio International Stadium saw substitute Tolu Akorede scoring the decisive goal at the 50th minute.
Super Eagles now occupy the third position in Group C with 10 points from seven matches and are expected to secure a crucial victory in their next match against South Africa in Bloemfontein.
