The Nigeria Youth Advancement Network, NYAN, has honoured a renowned philanthropist and humanitarian, Yeye(Dr)Afolashade Shona-Aluko, with the prestigious Icon of Humanitarian Services Award and presented to her a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of her outstanding contributions to humanity and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people, particularly, the vulnerable groups.
The award was presented to her in Lagos on Wednesday, where Yeye Shona-Aluko reaffirmed her commitment to humanitarian service and pledged to continue touching lives through interventions aimed at improving the well-being of vulnerable individuals.
The recognition further celebrates her remarkable dedication to humanitarian causes, particularly her interventions in supporting vulnerable individuals, promoting social inclusion and creating opportunities for underserved members of society.
Yeye Shona-Aluko, Founder of YASA Foundation, has continued to demonstrate an exceptional passion for community development through various initiatives targeted at touching lives and raising hope of the less-privileged across Nigeria and beyond.
Through her humanitarian engagements, she has consistently championed the values of compassion, dignity, inclusion and equal opportunities, while deploying her influence and resources to address some of the challenges confronting vulnerable populations.
Her commitment to making a meaningful difference in society is also reflected in the activities of YASA Foundation, which focuses on improving access to healthcare and rehabilitation services, providing assistive devices, promoting inclusive education and skills development, and protecting vulnerable individuals against abuse, neglect and discrimination.
Speaking after receiving the award on Wednesday in Lagos, Yeye Shona-Aluko who is the Yeye Bobajiro Oodua expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Youth Advancement Network, NYAN for recognising her contributions to humanity.
She reiterated her determination to sustain her humanitarian efforts, stressing that the recognition would further encourage her to reach more people, particularly those who need support, care and opportunities to live meaningful lives.
