After over 24 hours of the suspension of the emergency rule in Rivers State by president Bola Tinubu, the reinstated Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has finally arrived in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The Governor arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Friday afternoon.
Fubara was welcomed by a crowd of supporters who had earlier converged at the VIP wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport, awaiting his arrival.
President Bola Tinubu had on Wednesday directed the Rivers State Governor, Mr Siminalayi Fubara, the Deputy Governor, Mrs Ngozi Odu and members of the State House of Assembly to resume to their offices on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
This followed the lifting on the 6 Months State of Emergency made by the President on March 18, this year.
In a statement, President Tinubu said his decision to lift the state of emergency was predicated on the fact that peace had returned to the State.
The Rivers State House of Assembly resumed on Thursday.
