Gov Abiodun Presents 2026 Budget Of “Sustainable Legacy” To State Assembly

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly, proposing a total budget of one point seven trillion naira for the fiscal year.

The 2026 budget is 63 percent higher than the 2025 budget of one point zero four six trillion naira.

Speaking at the Assembly complex, Governor Abiodun said the new budget, tagged “Budget of Sustainable Legacy,” was aimed at deepening reforms, consolidating gains of the past six years, and promoting sustainable socio-economic growth across key sectors of the state’s economy.

He outlined six policy thrusts for the 2026 fiscal year, covering food security, human capital development, infrastructure expansion, revenue reform, community development, social protection, and economic diversification.

Governor Abiodun said the proposed budget has a recurrent-to-capital ratio of 37 to 63, with six hundred and twenty-four point seven six billion naira allocated to recurrent expenditure, and one point zero four four trillion naira for capital projects.

He stated that the allocation reflects his administration’s determination to complete ongoing infrastructure projects and provide amenities to improve the lives of the people.

While urging the lawmakers to give the 2026 Appropriation Bill careful consideration, Governor Abiodun gave the assurance that his administration would ensure diligent and timely implementation for the benefit of the people.

The Governor expressed confidence that 2026 would bring progress, prosperity, and improved well-being to the people of Ogun State.

In the meantime, the Ogun State House of Assembly Speaker, Mr. Oludaisi Elemide, promised that the House would commence immediate consideration of the 2026 Budget Proposal in the interest of the state.

He reassured the executive arm of government of its continuous support and cooperation towards ensuring good governance and provision of dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
