An Open Letter To President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR: Save The Souls Of Stagnated Radio Nigeria Workers.

Your Excellency,

We write this open letter with deep pain, renewed hope, and an unwavering belief that your administration stands for fairness, justice, and the welfare of Nigerian workers.

For many employees of Radio Nigeria, the dream of career progression has become a nightmare. For eight, nine and even ten consecutive years, scores of dedicated officers have remained trapped on the same grade level, not because they lack the qualifications, competence, or experience, but because management continues to hide behind the excuse of “no vacancy.”

This explanation has become a recurring refrain that has condemned hardworking professionals to years of career stagnation, emotional trauma, and financial deprivation.

Promotion is not a favour. It is the legitimate reward for hard work, competence, years of service, and successful performance in promotion examinations. It is one of the fundamental pillars that sustain morale and inspire greater productivity in the public service.

Sadly, the situation has taken an even more disturbing dimension.

As the 2026 promotion examination is being conducted, many officers, particularly those due for promotion from Grade Level 15 to Grade Level 16, have reportedly been excluded from the exercise. Having already been denied promotion for several years under the pretext of “no vacancy,” they are now being denied even the opportunity to sit for the examination that could advance their careers.

This is not merely an administrative oversight; it is a grave injustice that leaves loyal workers humiliated, frustrated, and completely demoralized.

How can an organization demand excellence from employees while denying them the opportunity to grow? How can officers who have dedicated the best years of their lives to national broadcasting continue to watch their contemporaries in other government establishments advance while they remain permanently rooted to one spot?

A worker whose career has been frozen for eight or ten years loses not only income but also hope, confidence, and dignity. Such prolonged stagnation affects pension benefits, retirement prospects, family welfare, and overall motivation.

Mr. President, your administration has consistently emphasized the importance of rewarding diligence and repositioning public institutions for greater efficiency. Those objectives cannot be achieved where injustice becomes institutionalized.

We therefore humbly appeal to you to direct the appropriate authorities to investigate this long-standing anomaly in Radio Nigeria.

Let an independent review be conducted into the issue of “no vacancy” that has denied qualified officers their deserved promotions for nearly a decade.

We also appeal that all eligible officers unjustly excluded from the 2026 promotion exercise be immediately reinstated and given the opportunity to compete fairly.

Justice delayed is justice denied. Every additional year of stagnation deepens the wounds inflicted on these officers and weakens the morale of an institution that remains a vital voice in Nigeria’s broadcasting landscape.

Your Excellency, history remembers leaders who stood up for the oppressed.

We believe you have both the authority and the compassion to end this painful chapter in the lives of these dedicated public servants.

The affected workers are not asking for special favours. They seek only what they have earned through years of faithful service: the opportunity to progress in their careers based on merit.

May this heartfelt appeal receive your urgent attention.

Mr. President, save our souls. Restore hope. Restore justice. Restore dignity to the dedicated workforce of Radio Nigeria.
