Ekiti Governor Dissolves Cabinet

Governor, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has approved the dissolution of his cabinet and several state boards, commissions and parastatals as part of preparations for the transition into his second term in office.
The decision, announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, also affected political appointees, including Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants.
The development which came ahead of the inauguration of Oyebanji’s second term scheduled for October 16, 2026, however, does not extend to some statutory institutions whose leaderships are to remain in place.
According to the statement , the dissolution does not affect State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission.
Governor Oyebanji said the governing councils of state-owned tertiary institutions will also continue in their current form.
The chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Local Government Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission will equally retain their positions, even though the respective boards have been dissolved.
He said Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the Governor are also excluded from the termination of appointments.
Governor Oyebanji while expressed appreciating the affected appointees for their contributions to his administration and service to Ekiti State, commended their efforts and wished them success in their future endeavours as his administration prepares for the next phase of governance.
