WAFCON 2024: Host Nation Morocco Held By Zambia In Opener

The 2024 Women African Cup of Nations, WAFCON kicked off on Saturday with a draw between Host Nation Morocco and Zambia.
It took the Shepolopolo of Zambia just a minute into the game to take the lead through Barbra Banda at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
The Atlas Lionesses of Morocco equalised in the 12th minute from the spot through Ibtissam Jraïdi.
Zambia restored their lead in the 27th minute via Racheal Kundananji, but they could not hang on as Morocco equalised for the second time in the 87th minute as the game ended 2-2.
The Group stage continues on Sunday as Senegal takes on DR Congo, Nigeria battles Tunisia before Algeria tackles Botswana.
The tournament ends on the 26th of July.
