Don Highlights Dangers Of ‘Helicopter’ Education

A Professor of Counselling Psychology, Adebayo Oluwole has called for an harmonious relationship among teachers and parents to ensure sterling academic performance of students.
Professor Oluwole who is the director of the Career Development and Counselling Center, University of Ibadan stated this while speaking at the prize giving and academic award presentation day of Estate High School, Ibadan.
The don noted that cordial relationships among teachers, students and parents would help to discover and manage loopholes in the education sector.
Professor Oluwole underscored the need for students not to jump class levels,saying doing such would make them lose some academic rudiments that may be beneficial to them in the future.
“On the importance of proper academic upbringing, parents must shun helicopter education for their children as this might have negative implications on them.” He submitted.
Earlier,Principal, Estate High School, Junior, Ibadan , Mrs. Esther Falola called on the students to approach each academic step with boldness and courage with the aim of achieving success in life.
