Following various complaints from members of the public on the operations of the officers of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, OYRTMA, the chairman, Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd.) has issued a directive making it compulsory for officers of the agency to wear approved uniforms during enforcement operations
Major Adekoya, who issued the directive on Thursday while addressing all zonal commanders across Oyo State, noted that wearing approved uniforms is imperative in order to maintain high level of professionalism, transparency and public trust.
The OYRTMA Boss spoke further that the use of mufti while on duty can cause fear, confusion and undermine the legitimacy of operations. He maintained that the attitude can expose its officers to unnecessary accusations, impersonations and extortion which put OYRTMA image into a serious danger.
Adekoya while noting that sanctions and disciplinary actions will be taken against any officer who is found flouting the directive, reiterated that uniforms worn by OYRTMA officers during official duties symbolize power, authority, responsibility and service to the residents of Oyo State.
He called on its officers to discharge their roles to ensure safety and order , and avoid intimidating or harassing members of the public in accordance with the stipulated guildlines and authority
