Court Jails Man For Stealing 17 Tubers Of Yam

A 28- year- old automobile mechanic,Akeem Jimoh has been sentenced to three-years in prison ,after he was found guilty of stealing yams worth thirty- five-thousand Naira.
Arraigned before an Osun State Magistrate Court ,sitting in Osogbo ,the police prosecutor, Babatunde Olukokun, said the defendant stole 17 tubers of yams behind Africa Primary School, Ataoja Area in Osogbo, Around 10pm on 25th of July,2025.
He also told the court that in the confessional statement , the defendant ,Jimoh, indicated that he had previously served a three-year jail term, after the man he stood surety for jumped bail.
The defendant, pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of theft and prayed the court to temper justice with mercy
In her ruling, Magistrate Muibah Olatunji, sentenced him to a 3-year jail term with no option of a fine.
