Pray For The Progress Of Your Town – Oba Oyesosin Tasks Ola Indigenes

Written by on September 10, 2025

As the Ogiyan Festival continues in Ejigbo town, in Osun State, the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonula Oyesosin, has urged the people of Ola to pray for the progress and development of their town, while allowing peace to prevail in the area.

The monarch made the call while receiving the Alase of Ola land, Dr. Olufemi Fasanya, in his palace as part of the ongoing festivals.

He noted that the visit reflected the long-standing love and cordial relationship between Ola and Ejigbo, stressing that there can be no development where strife or conflict exist.

In his remarks, Dr. Fasanya, who also serves as Chairman of the Ola Kingmakers Committee, traced the historical bond between both communities to the time of Olageesi’s, now known as Alase, journey from Ile-Ife, when he was warmly hosted by Oba Akinjole, the then Elejigbo.

Dr. Fasanya explained that the tradition of hospitality and celebration has endured from that time till the present day, adding that the Ogiyan and the Alase would also hold a private indoor meeting during the festival.

The Alase further called on the people not to forget their heritage and to study history carefully, warning that conflicting narratives could cause unnecessary tension.

Dignitaries at the festival included traditional leaders, chiefs, members of the Ogiyan ruling house, and the Alase royal family.
