7 Injured As Building Collapses In Ondo

A building under construction at the Cathedral area of Akure, Ondo State, has collapsed and left seven person’s injured.
The incident occurred beside the former secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), causing panic in the area as emergency responders moved swiftly to rescue victims trapped in the rubble.
Addressing Newsmen at the scene, the Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hon. Sunday Olajide, said the state government would immediately launch a thorough investigation to determine both the immediate and remote causes of the collapse.
Olajide warned developers across the state against the use of substandard building materials, stressing that such practices pose serious risks to lives and property.
He urged builders to strictly adhere to approved construction standards and ensure that all necessary permits and approvals are obtained before commencing any project.
The commissioner disclosed that the state government has sealed off the affected construction site and will take appropriate action against those found culpable once investigations are concluded.
The injured victims were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals for medical attention, while security agencies have cordoned off the area to prevent further danger.
