Nigeria Police Force, Ekiti State Command has flagged the proposed protest by members of Transport Unions in the state on the ground that it could be hijacked.
The planned protest is scheduled for Monday, 22nd June 2026.
In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, disclosed that the Command received intelligence reports indicating that some transport unions were mobilising for a protest aimed at disrupting the current leadership structure within their organisations.
According to the police, the planned action poses a serious security risk and could lead to a breakdown of law and order.
The statement notes that the protest “might be hijacked, leading to violence, public disorder, and possible loss of lives.”
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Michael Adegoroye Falade warned against any form of protest, gathering, or unlawful assembly by any group, particularly road transport unions, that could threaten the prevailing peace and security in the State.
CP Falade reiterated that the Command would not hesitate to take necessary measures against individuals or groups whose actions could jeopardise public safety and security.
