Residents Panic As Lifeless Body Found Beside River In Ekiti

Tension on Friday engulfed residents in the Onala community in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, after the lifeless body of a middle-aged man was discovered beside a river near Mercy Land Parish, a Celestial Church.
The deceased, whose identity had not been ascertained as of the time of publication, was dressed in the outfit commonly worn by commercial motorcyclists.
His body was found lying beside the flowing river by residents in the area, it was reported.
Some residents who spoke with newsmen assumed that the victim was a commercial motorcyclist who may have been swept away and drowned during the recent heavy rainfall that affected parts of Ado-Ekiti.
Concerned residents in the area have continued to appeal to relevant authorities to urgently evacuate the corpse to prevent environmental pollution and possible health risks the decomposing body of the deceased might caused.
Ekiti State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident or confirm the circumstances surrounding the man’s death as at the time of publication.
